Nobody knows how to answer the phone. Was scheduled for a over the phone interview and never got a call, finally get ahold of them, get everything situated, just to get a paper in the mail saying I didn't do the over the phone when they never called me or rescheduled when I called them! When I go into the office everyone is snobby and you can tell they don't even care! Obviously some people aren't doing there jobs right causing people to go without because they can't do there jobs.

I was due for reapplication. I submitted all required paper work and verifications that I had for income and expenses. My family and I had just moved and had yet to receive all our utility bills for the new address. I completed my phone interview on the 21st and was told to submit my remaining expenses as soon as I received them. Four days later I got a letter saying I had to have all verifications by the 1st of the following month, or my benefits would be terminated. I resubmitted, by fax, copies of income and the bills I did have proof for. Keep in mind I had already gave them this info weeks before. Plus, I wrote a letter explaining, for the second time, that I had yet to receive all my utility bills for the new address, and as soon as I get them in the mail I would provide copies to J.F.S. Well, come the first of the month, they stopped my benefits anyhow! If it was just me I would take it in stride, but being I have two small kids I panicked! My husband works full time, but it isn't enough to make it without those foodstamps. I don't feel owed the foodstamps. I am blessed and grateful to have them. What pisses me off is that somebody didn't do their damn job and listen to what I was telling them! They could have evaluated my benefits based on the verifications I had, then redetermined them again later once I had all the bills. They didn't need to stop the foodstamps all together when I did nothing wrong! So, they terminated my foodstamps and I still have not received all of my utility bills in the mail, yet! Question: how can a person submit new utility bills to J.F.S. when the electric and water company have not even sent the bills to the person yet?

Job and family services has always been difficult to navigate. If it's not the fact that you can't ever get a real live person on the phone, due to them not putting case worker names and extensions on the paperwork any more. Then it's the ever changing hours of operation (However now that they actually have to stay open till 5-pm it's working out pretty well.) However with that being said there are a few complaints that do at some point need to be addressed. #1. The phone system; we know you would rather not talk to us, its pretty apparent by how you set up your phone systems. But the reason why you need to have phone skills and some customer service experience for the job, is to at some point have to talk to someone on the phone. #2. Your job; Apparently it's no longer your job to collect information to assess someones eligibility for assistance. When it fact it really is, when you ask for something don't look at people when they give you the information that you've asked for and say, "It's not my job to call them for the information I want, it's yours." #3 Lastly, the JFS website; It's pretty apparent here that this hasn't been messed with for a few years, the whole point of offering "Online Access" is for the website to actually work, and allow you to access your stuff. Not to bug out and stop working when you put your information in.
